Jiten,
as I made it clear before, these are not the same contents given in QAI's CD. My blog will serve as additional notes & gives so many references to CSQA prep!

See in some of your comments you told that ur material has some extra info..so is it something like this u have first all CBOK material and then u have added extra or is it such that you have supplied additonal information as and when required...amidst the material

The idea being that if we can seggregate CBOK and ur material therzz no need of getting CBOK !!!

but if it is the second case it will become difficult to check whether ur material has covered the basic CBOK material

Apologies if I have hurted in any means

Dear Prashanth,

No apologies required here; Look, this blog has been set up for the good of the aspirants. Let me make this very clear - this blog does NOT consist of the contents of "CBOK Guide" as it is published by QAI. I am just giving additional notes & references as suggested by QAI. You can see this NOTE by QAI at this link http://www.qaiworldwide.org/bookstore/index.html as follows:

"Note: The self-study materials should not be construed to cover all of the topics that will be addressed on the CSQA examination. The guide is a tool, and it is not required in order to pass the examination if the applicant has the prerequisite experience and/or educational credentials for the designation."

So this is very clear that you need to have CBOK and then use my blog for the additional references. Hope I am clear!

All the best

First of all for the March exam, the last date is 24th Jan. look at this link for the exam schedules: http://www.softwarecertifications.org/exams/schedule.htm
Second, whether CSTE or CSQA depends on ur future perspective of ur career; CSTE is purely for Testing professionals and CSQA may be of more use to u. For CSQA info, download the pdf file from this link: http://www.softwarecertifications.org/csqabok/csqa_01.pdf

Dear Kavitha,

It is enough if u meet one of these prerequisites(not all)

1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college-level institution,
2. An associate degree and two years of experience in the information services field, or
3. Six years of experience in the information services field.

So, experience should not be a problem for you if you are already holding a bachelors degree! All the best

Dear friend,

it happens with most of the professionals in their careers. Dont get disheartened. There are very good prospects for SQAs and Process Management specialists today! Express your voice to boss/manager if possible in a polite manner! Try if you can get a better role in the same organization. Otherwise you can look for roles outside where you can show your creativity in implementing models like CMMI/others. First be clear with yourself and then take a decision.

Wish u all the best!

Great work prasanna for ur time and patience for creating this csqa blog.
This is Mohan from US,Baltimore.i got a ft job offlate iam looking for csqa certification .I have gone through CBOK book, knowledge domains-8 and previous question papers.however i felt most of questions are generic questions[real work environment quetsions].what's ur opinion about csqa exam prep ,will the cbok be enough for clearing the exam or we need to apply job real work scenario's to various questions.
whta do the evaluators expect ,answers which are in line with cbok or our professional exp?whats ur advice in this regard,
to score 80% and higher how many months of prep is req.as far cbok, and prep q papers i am feeling comfrtable. i have dates now for sept07 or dec.
once i clear i also plan for CSPM.so basically my aim is to clear asap csqa and then go for next one..iam studying since a week will i able to ctach up with sept date?

Hi Prasanna,
This is sarang, I am working as a associate QA Engineer from last 1 yr. But moreover i am doing testing only, i need to extend my career as a Quality Analyst.I am thinking of giving CSQA & i will start my preparation from zero so which date you think is appropriate as i am thinking of sep 21st & the CD they provide will be sufficient for clearing exam. I am desperately waiting for your reply

May 15, 2007 6:15 AM
Blogger Prasanna Kumar said...

Dear Sarang,

Sept 21st is gud enough, but only if u can allocate some study hours per week from now on... dont wait till Sept 1st! And ofcourse, the CD is enough... also go thru the yahoo groups like "CSQA", "CQAfolks" for previous exam info..

All the best!

Blogger Prasanna Kumar said...

Dear Mohan,
apart from my above comment to Sarang, this will help u -
Examiner's strategy is to test ur basics of CSQA knowledge areas and then how well u've understood them to practically implement them. CD and old papers r gud enough!!And ofcourse, sep is far enough for you to prepare to get more than 90% :)

All the best

Hi Prasanna ,
This is mohan,i decided to take up sept date but I have a few questions..
1]exam structure ,i think it contains 4 question papers ,which part is toughest and require more prep?can you elaborate a bit,can we catch up with the time in alanytical questions.will they expect really lenghty answers or just point to point.
2]if we dont remember some points in the answer can we make it up with our practical experience,if not i have to be bit careful that i study well to make sure i remember all req points which i can elaborate in exam..

May 18, 2007 9:22 AM
Blogger Prasanna Kumar said...

1]Yup u will have two objective and two subjective. u need to get overall 75% to get thru the exam. All four papers will be treated separately, respectiev answer papers will be taken back at the end of allocated 1hr/1hr 30mins whatever it is.. so u wont get time to adjust for your other papers' mistakes! u'll have a 10min break between the exams though!

2]Yes!! u need not reproduce the content as is.. plz try to relate it to ur practical experience

May 18, 2007 11:18 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

which papers cover which topics in the cbok book?paper-1,2,3,4?

what's the time limit for objective and subjective papers?

how many questions in each paper vs time?

how many wrong answers can we afford for objective to score>75%

i guess in each paper we should score 75% or is it 75% overall..

May 19, 2007 12:42 PM
Blogger Prasanna Kumar said...

Topics are covered at random in the papers; it should not be a quesion of concern for you as u'll be writing all four papers at once;

time limit if i remember correctly is 1hr for objective and 75mins for subjective; u better find the same in any of the CSQA groups/forums for the latest info

its overall 75% pass mark; for objective its pretty clear - 38/50 in each paper if thr r 50 questions as before; in subjective it depends on your evaluator!!

Dear Dheeraj,

M&A and QPM are very much related..

M&A talks about setting measurement objectives, collecting, storing and analyzing metrics; M&A process area refers to the Quantitative Project Management process area for more
information about understanding variation and the appropriate use of
statistical analysis techniques;

whereas QPM talks about
statistically managing the project to achive project objectives; M&A will help QPM by providing necessary metrics!!

Hope this short briefing gives you the primary difference

I was readign through your blogspot.. its quite interesting..

Now I am very much intrested to do CSQA. I am planning to appear on March. I will enroll myself for that. My question is, whether the CSQA CBOK 2006 is the latest book released by CSQA or DO we have any higher versions like CSQA CBOK 2007 or 2008..

Hi Prasanna,

Kudos to ur help to the CSQA Aspirants. Good Work.

By the way CSQA exam process is changing in 2008. This is the reason why schedule for 2008 is not announced so far.

Rumours are agog that CSQA pattern will be similar to that of PMP.

To know the truth we need to wait till November.

Best Regards,
Ali
